On Kiyo’s last day in Hawaii this winter, we went out to lunch with my mom at Seaside Grill at The Kahala resort a few blocks down the beach from my house.
It was a partially overcast day, but it was still nice to be sitting practically on the beach. This location is why, I believe, this restaurant is a step above other resort food (which I would normally only eat if/when I was actually a guest at said resort). Not many other restaurants or bars in Honolulu are actually right on the beach.
Kiyo of course had to get the strong, classic Hawaiian cocktail, the mai tai.
My mom ordered nachos, which came with lentils instead of the usual pinto or black beans, which helped lighten up the dish.
Kiyo had a bacon cheeseburger with french fries, which was good, standard pool-side resort fare.
I ordered the cobb salad which fit the same description. I had no complaints but it was definitely forgettable. As I said, the location is really what you’ll remember after eating at this place. It’s just really nice to have your toes in the sand and a cocktail in your hand at the same time (and legally). And since I live down the street, ordering food is a great excuse to play hotel guest and use the pool!
